Yay i finally figured out how to install the newest version of WordPress.
Only took me 2 days =]

Did you try installing the plugin WP-Automatic Updater? Or something similar? All you do is give a few clicks and installation is a breeze. =]

Why did it took so long

It never took me more than 30 minutes to upgrade or install wordpress
